Celebrating feasts and festivals is a part of our culture and tradition as a Filipino. We have so many different festivals around the country, on each region wherein various things were featured and experienced. Most festivals in the Philippines are religious in origin, but nowadays the religions component is usually secondary to the general spirit of celebration.
Ilocos Sur is a beautiful provnce located in the northern part of Luzon. It is a province rich in culture that represents the ancient Spanish and Filipino heritage. To show and share their treasures to the world, the locals conceived a festival that highlights these cultural traditions and they called it the. "Kannawidan Festival."
Kannawidan is a festivity which celebrates every year. In this festival, we Ilocano people showcase cultural shows, native products and talents of ilocanos. Kannawidan Ylocos Festival became an annual festival that aims to create awareness on the preservation of the province reach cultural heritage, practices and traditions, and showcase of the different agriculture and industry products of the province.
Kannawidan has really lived up to its mission and vision: preserving the reach Ilocano cultural artistic, historical heritage. Kannawidan gatherings have always been a venue for Ilocanos, relations and friends, sharing and exchanging thoughts, views and insight on how to preserve the beautiful customs and traditions.
